Of course, traditional radiography is not obsolete. It has been around for well over a century and has played a vital role in many medical advancements. However, digital radiography is proving to be a safer and more effective way of producing diagnostic images.
Traditional radiography uses film to capture detailed images of the body’s internal organs. However, this process can be subjected to human error because technicians can under or overexpose the film. With digital X-rays, on the other hand, not only is the quality better, but the technology can display images in just a few seconds. Moreover, because the images are digital, dentist can modify their size without altering any information. Digital radiography has become the preferred method in many health institutions because it’s more cost-effective than traditional X-rays. Because the old method relies on film, storing and retrieving images can be challenging. In contrast, with digital X-rays, the storage space is virtually unlimited since you can transfer images to an external hard drive or to The Cloud. The advances in imaging technologies have revolutionized diagnosis and treatment planning. By overcoming the limits of traditional radiography, digital X-rays can help dentist provide better care and services to their patients. Ultrasonic instruments are the principle treatment modality for removing plaque and calculus. These power-driven instruments oscillate at very high speeds, causing micro vibrations that aid in calculus and subgingival plaque removal. Research has shown that ultrasonic scaling instruments are at least as effective as manual scalers at removing calculus from tooth surfaces, including from within gum pockets that are shallow. However, where ultrasonic instruments really shine is in the clearing of deposits from deeper pockets. The tips of these tools are small, allowing them to easily reach areas where manual tools have more trouble. Furthermore, the coolant sprayed by ultrasonic scalers actually adds to the dislodging of accumulated plaque and calculus. At the same time, ultrasonic scaling tools also introduce oxygen bubbles into these deeper pockets which disrupt the oxygen hating bacteria which thrive deep within. Glado Clinic Dental Practice uses this ultrasonic scaler for achieving more efficient results in scaling and root planning.
Technological advancements in the field of dentistry have reformed the concept of photography as a powerful medium of expression and communication. It also offers a spectrum of perception, interpretation, and execution. One of the widespread clinical applications of computerization in dentistry today is the intraoral camera (IOC). It helps in the revelation of the hidden and overlooked defects in teeth and other parts of the cavity. The intraoral camera not only allows us to view your teeth and gums with ease, but it also let us show you things like tooth decay and gum disease and more when you visit us for your checkup.
Rotary Endodontics is the procedure in which a power driven instrument is used for root canal treatments. The use of power driven instruments allows for more accurate cleaning and shaping of your root canal, thus allowing it to be filled easier and with more predictable results. At Glado Clinic Dental Practice, we prefer to us rotary instrumentation for fast, efficient and painless root canal therapy for our patients comfort.
An oral cancer screening is a visual and physical exam of the oral cavity and connected tissues. It’s an examination performed by a dentist to look for signs of cancer or precancerous conditions in your mouth. The goal of oral cancer screening is to identify mouth cancer early, when there is a greater chance for a cure.
At Glado Clinic Dental Practice, we use a special instrument called OralID which uses fluorescence technology that provides the clinician an aid in visualization of oral mucosal abnormalities, such as oral cancer and pre-cancer.
While the explorer is still widely used to evaluate a patient for caries, cutting edge caries detection systems are changing the way some practices screen and treat patients. This system is capable of detecting and assessing carious lesions earlier and in more locations.
At Glado Clinic Dental Practice we use fluorescence system which helps us to discover caries at earlier stages when minimally invasive treatment options might be applicable.
